1st Trail Run after Injury

Well, I did my first trail run after my leg injury following my last half-marathon and it felt pretty good.  I took it slow and really enjoyed it.  I have a state park just behind my backyard and took a run through the trails.  Great morning run; spooked about a dozen Turkey’s and one deer on the trail so it was pretty eventful.  Preparing for a 25K trail run in Itasca next month so I need to pick it up and get back to where I need to be.

2 week break

Took a two week break from running; my wife and I went on a trip to Ireland and working out was not on the schedule. I am back now and plan on getting back to 35 miles per week by next week.

Sub Zero 5K in Fargo

Cold day to run a race in, right around zero and very icy conditions.  Good investment will be to pick up a pair of snow/ice spikes for my shoes.  Was able to maintain my balance but really had to work at it and it slowed me down tremendously.  This puts me at 93 miles for the month.  Very happy about that.

Filthy 5K run

What a fun cross-country run.  More emphasis on having fun than winning.  I had a great time running through the mud, slush and muck.  All participants were given a pig shaped soap-on-a-rope upon finishing.  A smart event, with hotdogs and beans for the finishers.  I will definitely do it again next year.

2-mile race for the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo

A quick 2-mile race. 13:29 is my PR for this race. Last year I didn’t pay attention to the race markers and ended up finishing with a time of 27:13. So, I had to try it again this year to right my wrong. Not to mention it’s for a great cause.

Even Better than Yesterday’s 5K

I ran another 5K race today and beat my PR from yesterday by over 2 minutes. I ran my first ever 5K last September with a time of 29:30, today, one year later I smashed it by almost 10 minutes. Funny thing is I don’t think my training program is all that, it just keeps me running.

PR for 5K Race

A good race today, I achieved a PR in the 5K of 21:37 and I took second place overall. It was my third 5K this week and I got better times consecutively.

5K Race in ND

I competed the in Threshing Bee 5K race at Stump Lake Park in ND today. I little windy, but a great day to run. Not my best time but still respectable (for me). I took 3rd overall and 1st in my age group. Very friendly race coordinator and staff, not to mention a great group of runners. It was certainly my pleasure to attend such a wonderful event.
